Project: Untitled (Acrylic)

Objective: The goal was to create an abstract piece using acrylic and any kind of string. I wanted to create a hanging piece because I thought it would give the viewer a more interesting point of view. Using a single sheet of acrylic (12" x 24") and a laser, I cut out three identical shapes that were the foundation to this project. I then bent the top piece and the bottom piece into a more curved shape with a heat gun. After that I threaded the piece through the hole patterns that I created with the laser. I chose this specific type of tie-dye string because it reminded me of bloody flesh, and I thought it would work well with the form that I was creating with the acrylic. The dimensions are 5" x 13".
